Иван ярыгин

Иван родился 7 ноября 1948 года в Кемеровской области, в большой деревенской семье. При этом своей малой родиной он считал посёлок Сизая Красноярского края, где провёл детство. Высокий и невероятно одарённый физически мальчишка играл в футбол на позиции вратаря и, по воспоминаниям очевидцев, подавал большие надежды. После школы Ярыгин переехал в Абакан, чтобы выучиться на шофёра. Там подросток записался в футбольную команду местного мясокомбината, где работал в свободное от учёбы время.

Иван Ярыгин сокрушил всех на двух Олимпиадах. А от третьей отказался добровольно, чтобы принести пользу сборной и стать великим.

Двукратный олимпийский чемпион по вольной борьбе Иван Ярыгин ушёл из жизни в результате страшного ДТП в Ставропольском крае. С момента трагической гибели одного из величайших борцов в истории прошло уже 22 года, но его имя по сей день является непререкаемым авторитетом и вызывает огромное уважение у любого, кто выходит на борцовский ковёр.

И так будет всегда, поскольку Иван Ярыгин стал настоящей легендой задолго до смерти.

Ivan Yarygin

Ivan Yarygin, who took up wrestling in 1966, was one of the world’s best heavyweight freestylers in the early 70s. Yarygin made his international début at the 1970 European Championships, where he won a silver medal. He was Olympic champion in 1972 and 1976, World Champion in 1973 and European Champion in 1972, 1975 and 1976, also winning a silver at the 1974 European Championships. Domestically, he was the Soviet Champion in 1970 and 1973. After finishing his sporting career, Yarygin worked as a wrestling coach. From 1982-92, he was head coach of the Soviet national freestyle wrestling team. From 1993 until his untimely death in a car accident near Neftekumsk, Yarygin was president of the Russian Wrestling Federation. Since 1990, an annual wrestling tournament in his honor has been held in Krasnoyarsk. Yarygin was inducted into the FILA International Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2010.

Трагический финал

Ярыгин планировал бороться за попадание и на Олимпиаду-1980, однако вскоре отказался от этой идеи, уступив своё место молодому Илье Мате.

«Раньше меня боялись, теперь я уже с опаской жду поединка с Мате, – пояснял Ярыгин. – Хотя внешне в нëм-то как раз нет ничего устрашающего – обычный парень, мышцы не выпирают, ходит вразвалочку, руку жмёт вяло. Но всё это обманчиво. На ковре он пружина, стальная пружина, и техника отменная».

Дав дорогу молодому, Иван не прогадал: именно Мате завоевал золото в Москве. А самого 33-летнего Ярыгина вскоре пригласили тренировать сборную СССР. За то время, что он был у руля национальной команды, советские спортсмены увезли с Олимпиад семь золотых медалей. После распада СССР Иван возглавил Федерацию спортивной борьбы России, которой и руководил до самой смерти. В 1997 году во многом благодаря усилиям легендарного спортсмена в Красноярске прошёл чемпионат мира по вольной борьбе, откуда сборная России увезла четыре медали, в том числе две золотые.
