“The myth of a great state and a powerful army is collapsing”: the head of the “Levada Center” on the attitude of Russians to war

Support for the war in Russian society is decreasing – these are the results of a closed poll conducted by the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FST of Russia) published by Meduza. According to the survey, in November, about 55% of Russians were in favor of peace negotiations with Ukraine, and only 25% were in favor of continuing the war, although the situation was the opposite in July (57% in favor of continuing the war and 32% in favor of negotiations).

Can these results be trusted? Similar figures were recorded in an October study by the Levada Center: 57% of respondents were in favor of peace talks (and 27% were against).

– What do you think about the FST poll, isn't it a journalistic legend?

– I can't say anything good about them, because neither the methodology, nor the sample, nor how the survey was conducted, etc. are published.

Here it is possible an unexpected turn, that these are some games of the special services with the aim of blackmail, pressure on the superiors, in order to knock out any preferences from the authorities. This is how the KGB behaved during Soviet times, scaring the party elite with the spread of Western propaganda and the growth of anti-Soviet sentiment among the youth.

For this case, the special service skilfully siphoned money from the Kremlin's coffers…
