In the Uysky district of the Chelyabinsk region of Russia, a criminal case was opened against a kindergarten teacher for using compensation for electricity payments to cover the expenses of a family mining farm.

According to the investigation, the woman had the right to compensate for the costs of paying for housing and communal services and for two and a half years in a row submitted documents to the education department of the Uysky district, receiving payments.

Most of the electricity consumed was not used for household needs, but for the operation of a mining farm, which was organized at home by the accused’s husband, the prosecutor’s office said. The damage caused to the education department of the Uisky district is estimated at 382,000 rubles.

A local resident was charged under Part 3 of Article 159.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud in receiving payments, committed on a large scale). Punishment under this article provides for a fine of 100,000 rubles, as well as up to six years in prison.

Previously, Associate Professor of the National Research University “Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology” Petr Fedorov said that the Russian budget is losing at least 10 billion rubles in tax revenues due to illegal cryptocurrency mining.
