Finally, the flagship triple-motor model impresses with its 14,000-pound towing capacity, lightning-fast 2.9-second acceleration to 60 mph, and a range of about 500 miles. The Cybertruck’s ground clearance reaches up to 16 inches, thanks in part to its adaptive air suspension, which comes as a standard feature regardless of the chosen configuration. Sarah Van Cleve, Tesla’s senior managing policy advisor, stated in a letter to California’s Air Resources Board (ARB) that the Cybertruck is expected to have a towing capacity ranging from 7,500 to over 14,000 pounds. This places it in the Class 2B-3 medium-duty vehicle category, surpassing the F-150 Lightning, which falls within the weight range of 8,250 to 8,550 pounds. Additionally, if the initial pricing remains unchanged, the Cybertruck’s starting price of $39,000 will be lower than that of the F-150 Lightning, which begins at around $60,000.

Factory Location

Tesla has chosen the Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, as the production site for the Cybertruck. The Austin Gigafactory also serves as the manufacturing hub for the Model Y and serves as Tesla’s global headquarters.

Price

Upon launch, Tesla will offer three variants of the Cybertruck. The entry-level model, featuring rear-wheel drive, starts at a base price of $39,000. The midrange model begins at $49,000, while the range-topping triple-motor version is priced at $69,000.

There is a possibility that the Tesla Cybertruck will be eligible for the federal tax credit upon release. Presently, a vehicle must be priced under $80,000, manufactured in North America, and meet EPA requirements for batteries and critical minerals to qualify for the credit. However, eligibility for the tax credit has undergone changes in the past, and it remains to be seen if the Cybertruck will meet the requirements at the time of its release.

Release Date

To reserve a Cybertruck, interested individuals can visit Tesla’s official website and make a refundable deposit of $100. This reservation does not serve as a binding agreement to purchase the vehicle but rather as a way to express interest without commitment. Tesla will ask reservation holders to confirm their intent closer to the start of production, which is currently scheduled for late 2023, although delays are possible.
