Ukraine and Russia became the most used words in The New York Times in 2022
Our country was mentioned more than 4,500 times, and the Russian Federation – 3,300. Over the past 8 years, Ukraine was in the ranking only in 2014.

The American edition of The New York Times summed up the results of 2022 and identified the most popular word. The most frequently used words were “Ukraine” and “Russia”. This is reported in a thread on “Reddit”.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, both countries became the most used in the materials of The New York Times. Ukraine was mentioned more than 4,500 times, and Russia – more than 3,300 times. It is noteworthy that last year the most used words were “Biden” – the president of the USA and “Covid” – the virus that forced everyone to observe quarantine.
